The Beggars' Operas

"Karolos Koun" Art Theatre

The carnivalesque operatic orgy by Kharálampos Goyós and The Beggars' Operas based on poetry by Maria Topali and Dimitris Dimopoulos, after having impressed the 48th Thessaloniki Dimitria Festival and the 4th Athens Biennale, arrives at the Karolos Koun Art Theatre. A "populist oratorio" about the rise, fall and rebranding of the nation – for only six performances.

One year after the enormous success the Godson, Sakellaridis composes yet another successful operetta based on his own libretto. The Possessed narrates the adventures of a fortune-hunter seducer and how enterprising is Loula, his forlorn, “possessed” girlfriend, in her effort to avert the marriage of convenience he concocts. Finally, the conventional marriage is triumphant…
